Davit Narmania Holds Public Lecture for the Representatives of the Educational Certification Program in Fighting Corruption

Davit Narmania, Chairperson of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) gave a lecture to the participants of theEducational Certification Program in Fighting Corruption. This program is implemented by the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) in cooperation with the Ilia State University. During the lecture, the Chairperson of the GNERC outlined the importance of competition in the energy sector.

 

Davit Narmania gave a detailed overview of the legal framework of enforcement of the competition law, the draft rules for monitoring and reporting of the energy market, the rules and criteria for determining the dominant position and concentrations, and the procedures for submitting and reviewing notifications regarding the companies’ concentration.

 

"It is important to inform the interested parties about the ongoing reforms in the energy sector, have discussions with them, to get acquainted with their positions. We are always ready to take part in various meetings, including holding public lectures and providing the public with comprehensive information on issues of interest to them, "- said Davit Narmania.

 

For the second year in a row, IDFI, in cooperation with the Ilia State University, is implementing the Certification Program in Fighting Corruption, in the framework of this program, guest lecturers gave open lectures on issues related to the prevention of corruption risks.

 

The Certification Program in Fighting Corruption is financially supported by the Open Society Institute Budapest Foundation (OSI) and co-financed by the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).
